F.A.Q.'s
Where are you located?
My home shop is Spirit Flame Tattoo in Vancouver, WA.
I love to do guest spots, and my website and Instagram will always be up-to-date on the next or current guest spot location. Guest spot locations and dates will be seen on my booking form when relevant.
What are your rates?
I charge $120/hour for custom designs, and usually have a set rate for flash designs. I am also always happy to work with your budget if you have one, and that can and will be worked out prior to the appointment. I never want someone to be caught off-guard by costs at the end of an appointment.
How do deposits work?
I take a $50 deposit when scheduling our appointment, that will go towards the total price of the tattoo. The deposit is good for one reschedule, although if you have to reschedule more than once I will require another deposit.
Do you tattoo other people's art?
In general, no. I will not copy another tattooer's design. If you have artwork from an artist who is not a tattooer, I would be open to tattooing their work with explicit permission from them.
What is your style?
I have the most fun tattooing in many different styles, although across the board I tend to stick with bold, detailed designs, inspired by old printing techniques such as etching. Generally I stick to single-color tattoos (i.e. all black, all red, all blue, etc.), but am open to doing more colorful work if I really connect with your idea. I do not tattoo "micro tattoos" or hyper-realism. For better examples of my work, go to the "About" section of my website, or you can visit my instagram, linked below.
Tattoo Pre-Care
Make sure you get lots of rest the night before your appointment, and do not consume alcohol within the 24 hours leading up to your appointment.
Eat a good meal no more than 2 hours prior to your appointment. (In addition to that being a healthy and responsible choice, in my own experience I have found that the more I eat before a tattoo the less painful it feels.)
Make sure you're hydrated (minimal or no caffeine) and moisturized!
Notify me if you wish to use numbing cream, as it has the potential to affect the ability to tattoo you or how the tattoo heals.
Email me with any and all questions you may have regarding your tattoo or the appointment! Your comfort during the appointment is my priority, lets make sure you feel informed about your tattoo process.
Tattoo After-Care
Keep your tattoo wrapped/ bandaged for 24 hours if possible. Wash your hands before removing bandage. After removing wrap/bandage, clean the area with antibacterial and unscented soap (I would recommend Vanicream Liquid Cleanser).
Apply a new bandage/wrap after cleaning and drying the tattoo, and leave on for as long as you are comfortable. Avoid sun exposure to your tattoo, and avoid submerging the tattoo in water for at least two weeks.
Continue washing your tattoo with unscented soap, and apply thin coats of ointment or unscented lotion (I recommend Hustle Butter, or Gold Bond unscented lotion) depending on your preference.
Your tattoo WILL get itchy, try to avoid scratching it as much as possible. If necessary, you can give the itchy area a good smack with freshly-washed hands.
Protect your tattoos with sunscreen after they are done healing!
Truthfully, each tattoo artist has slightly different aftercare instructions. Simply, your tattoo is a wound and should be treated as such. Keep it clean, dry, and protected from bacteria.
